Firmware upgrades are evil.
I'm (possibly temporarily) the owner of a BTC 16x dual-layer dvd writer (a cheap 1016IM). And i think the individuals responsible for the firmware upgrade software should be ashamed of themselves. The wretched thing is so borked it's bloody criminal. After maybe 1/2 a dozen frustrating attempts (and similarly frustrating downgrades to the initial firmware version to return the device to a working state) i've given up trying. Now i have to hope i can actually get the beast to write dual-layer disks.
